I was opening up a new spa and all I needed was a retail table to display some product samples on. My budget was all but gone, and I didn't have much money left to spend on a nice retail table that would go with the decor in the spa. Here I was, waiting in line at the airport to get back to the island. Why was I here? Hadn't it been my sole purpose for over 3 months to get off the island? And now, I'm standing in line at the airport, between these Displays2Go private label brushed stainless steel stanchions, about to return to the one place I had vowed I would never even speak of again. That terrible few months had been over for years, now. So much had happened since then. Some good, some bad, but all experiences in the real world, not on some deserted (for the most part) Pacific island.

And it was all eerily familiar. As I stood reading the label: QueuePole.ES by www.displays2go.com; trying to distract myself, I realized I was terrified. I stood in an airport, feeling the cool brushed stainless steel beneath my fingers, my foot lightly tapping on the heavily weighted base. It was bike week in Laconia, a very popular time at the hotel I work at. And every year at this time we get swamped with bikers, of all shapes and sizes. And each year, I tell my manager we need to get stanchions, to control the crowds coming to the reception desk to check in. It gets completely out of control. There is no rhyme or reason, they just fill the lobby and argue about who was there first. And every year, my manager says, "We managed to get through it last year without crowd control stanchions. Why waste our money when we'll get through it again this year?" But there was no way to anticipate what happened this year. We had overbooked about half of the rooms at the hotel and the bikers were getting really restless. I thought to myself, "If only some crowd control stanchions would come to our rescue!" And as if someone read my mind, I saw some delivery men working their way through the rowdy crowd with these big boxes. They started opening up some crowd control stanchions, and making a nice line with them, right to the front door! I ordered the bikers to for two single file lines within the stanchions. To my surprise, they actually listened. I told my boss later on, after things had somewhat calmed down that it was one of the smartest purchases the hotel had ever made. He told me it wasn't him that ordered the stanchions, but I was thankful to whoever or however they got there.
